Join us Sunday 8/30 Noon – 3 pm for our annual block party.
Located at Dewing Park and featuring the acoustic music of Dave Andre of the Smoking J’s, request your favorite 70s – 80s – 90s songs, while taking a dip in the pool or enjoying our BBQ’d hot dogs and hamburgers. For Parkmead Community Residents only, bring a dish to share, drink a beer, relax and enjoy the day! Look forward to seeing you there!
When we say “taste local” we mean it! Calicraft a micro brewer is opening a taproom in the Shadelands area of Walnut Creek by 2016. Perfect timing as the entire corder of Ygnacio & Oak Grove is under construction for the new Safeway Development. To get a head start on the tastings visit your local Whole Foods (Nugget, Andronicos, Berkeley Bowl or favorite independent market) and pick up their newly announced consumer packaged items. Best known for their Cali Coast, it’s now available in 12oz 6pack cans! Thus making it safe and easy for the beach and summer outings.
Also now available in a 4 pack 12 oz bottles is Buzzerkeley – my favorite, a unique combination of sparkling ale fermented with champagne yeast and star thistle honey – can you say hmmmm. This beer is unique and tasty, when champagne is not available (shout out to Dawn Stom), it is one of my absolute favorites, a definite stable in my fridge, except my son tends to drink all my beer!
Look forward to seeing you there! If you have any other microbrew recommendations, post them here. I know Alameda, Oakland & Emeryville have many tasting rooms popping up.
I have had a potted cactus in my backyard for years. This is the first year I completely turned off watering the back. I looked out my window and saw a beautiful white flower. Thinking it was the white rose bush, I walk out to take a look wondering how it possibly bloomed. What I found is this beautiful flower, never has this cactus produced such an exquisite work of art that I had to photograph it using various processes (odd my iPhone 6 displays them differently, my favorite was the monochromatic, but it is not showing that way on my Mac). I love them all.
Ok, as I write, I realize I missed the first concert “Petty Theft” thinking it was this Friday night. For the past few years, I have made it to at least one of the concerts. Held at Stanford’s parking lot from 6-8:30 pm, with music at 7:00, I have always had an enjoyable evening. Bring your own picnic, wine and treats or grab something to eat or drink from the event sponsors. Either way what a great way to spend a warm summer night in Walnut Creek.
Picture from a concert a few years ago – lots of dancing a must!
Future line ups include (note Thursday nights) :
August 13: The Unauthorized Rolling Stones
August 20: Journey Revisited
I blogged at the beginning of the year of getting a couple into a home in 3 days [see our “Motivated Buyers” post from January 8th 2015!!]. It was a very smooth process and great experience for all with a Super Star Team from the listing agent, sellers, to JVM Lending and wonderful clients. We delayed closing by 5 days because Obama changed the law and reduced the Mortgage Insurance, since the lender is so pro-active, they called and asked if we could close a few days late to get a case number with the lower MI.
Home Sweet Home
I asked the listing agent who had to get approval from the seller. Everyone agreed, thus closing 5 days late, the buyer was able to save $200 a month! This is the third buyer who has moved from the peninsula or the city for more affordable housing after having a child.
Closing the Deal 🙂

Though February brought us rain, I took off the Sunday before the Super Bowl and headed to Mt. Tam for a hike and ended the day at Stinson. Even though I have lived in the Bay Area since 1990, I have never been to Stinson Beach, always opted for Muir Beach. Well, you can’t beat a January winter in the Bay Area when you get 70 degree weather (warmer at the beach than Walnut Creek), bikini’s and a beautiful sunset! Gotta love Northern California! I will return, loved the beach town.
